This weekend saw BCFC accomplish yet another successful story by competing in the Inaugural Rand Central Local Football Association Ladies Champion of Champions and becoming the very first RCLFA Ladies Champion of Champions.

Inaugural RCLFA Ladies Champion of Champions

Rand Central Local Football Association hosted their inaugural ladies Champion of Champions Tournament this weekend on Sunday 11-11-2018. The teams that ended 1st and 2nd in every stream in the LFA being Bosmont, Central, Cosmo City and Diepsloot were meant to play out for the honors of this prestigious as well as auspicious event planned for the first time by RCLFA.

The Teams originally meant to play were from those 4 streams. However some of the teams could not make the event for whatever reason and the final draw was:

Randburg A; Wits CHRL; Akani; Cosmo City and Bantwana College NPC.

We were advised on the day that Randburg A as well as WITS CHRL withdrew and the tournament was reshaped to accommodate teams that were available. Jimmy Bakos the RCLFA Chairman provided the necessary reshuffling to ensure that a successful inaugural Champs of Champs takes place.

The day started in warm conditions with temperatures soaring at 28 degrees Celsius, which made playing conditions for the ladies testing as the day progressed. Bantwana College Ladies played against Cosmos City in their first match with goals being scored at regular intervals: 8’, 12’, 17’ 20’ 23’ and 31’ minutes in the first half to give BCFC a 6 – 0 advantage at the break. Asante Papo claiming a double brace with 4 goals out of the 6. The second half only saw 2 goals being scored at the 9’ and 23’ minute. Gretel Buttress, Captain of BCFC, managed a brace to provide BCFC with an 8 -0 victory over a developing team from Cosmo City.

The Final however was a different game which saw Akani FC, who beat BCFC 3 – 2 in the first league game of the 2018 season on a rescheduled Friday night match that took place on a Saturday morning at 11am on 5-5-2018. The same time this final of CoC was scheduled to kick off. The difference was the 14 game experience in BCFC first season as well as the fact that the game was being live streamed to the UK, seemed to have given BCFC players the added encouragement and motivation to play like Champions and beat Akani FC 2 – 1, with Gretel, the Captain leading from the front and scoring both goals for BCFC from set pieces just outside the penalty area. BCFC – Inaugural ladies RCLFA Champion of Champions 2018. Asante and Gretel ended the day netting 4 goals each.
